Aligned was a group project I was a part of, in which the goal was to design an appropriate environment where designers could collaborate and create within. The inspiration for this was based around the idea of a modern atelier type makerspace, that included a modular studio space. My role in this group was to storyboard the interactions that might happen within this space and also research and develop types of multisensory interactions that could enhance thespace.
Initial research gave the group the idea to create a modular makerspace that where users could interact with the layout of the room’s furniture and the room itself. When prototyping we used card to create quick and simple representations of how the furniture in the room could be changed and interacted with.
Our final model that was shown to the public was a scaled down model of the proposed floorplan for the final makerspace. It included a sensor around the base of the model that used an Arduino and LEDs so that when someone interacted with the model they could get an idea of how the room would respond to that interaction.
